BGIS is thrilled to announce that we won the Collaborative Partnerships award at the Facility Management Association of Australia (FMA) Industry Awards for Excellence 2023. This very special win is shared with two clients NSW Department of Communities and Justice, and Australian Government Department of Defence, along with our vendor Civic Disability. Together, these organisations have come together to reduce recidivism by providing 15 inmates at the Metropolitan Special Purpose Centre with full-time employment and vocational education and training. The inmates provide a complete laundry service to four Defence bases including sorting, washing, drying, and ironing. Metropolitan Special Purpose Centre employs these inmates who are skilled in handling high volumes of linen within a 24-hour turnaround. The laundry operates to quality accredited standards and Australian Standards. The linen service is provided Monday to Friday and BGIS engages disability service provider Civic Disability to pick-up and drop off all linen to the Defence bases.

Congratulations to our BGIS team members and clients who have created this successful partnership!

Pictured accepting the award Tom Haszard, Director, Defence and James Donoghue, General Manager, Facilities and Service Management, on behalf of Craig Schofield, Account Director, Department of Communities and Justice, Michelle Dixon, Managing Director, Client Services and Defence Industries and our clients.

Congratulations to Jack Panada, Innovation Manager, Asia Pacific on winning the prestigious RICS Australia Innovation Award 2023. BGIS partnered with innovative company Cresstec to deliver an energy saving technology that utilises Artificial Intelligence for client Australian Government Department of Defence. The technology, called REED HVAC-R, is a retrofittable, refrigerant management and energy saving technology for commercial HVAC and refrigerant equipment. REED works by opening the systems refrigerant circuit allowing for dynamic refrigerant optimisation to perfectly match the demand and environment requirements. REED harvest and stores refrigerant energy normally lost through system operation and uses this energy to save electricity and reduce system wear. REED continually diagnoses, predicts, and notifies stakeholders about possible faults, allowing for proactive maintenance. Well done to Jack Panada, Innovation Manager and Roman Gajda, Project Support Area Lead Defence account for their hard work and innovative practices.

Pictured Tom Haszard, Account Director, Defence, Michelle Dixon BA LLB GAICD, Managing Director, Client Services and Defence Industries, Jack Panada, Steven Mazic, EMOS Manager, Richard Gee, Chief Commercial Officer
