BGIS in Australia is pleased to launch our first Disability Engagement & Inclusion Plan (DEIP), outlining our vision for increased participation and inclusion of people with disabilities, and the actions we’ll take to get there.
“As the first facilities management and real estate services organisation to have a DEIP registered with the Australian Human Rights Commission, we are leading our industry in creating positive change for people with disabilities,” said Dana Nelson, Managing Director of BGIS APAC. “By putting measures in place to remove systematic, physical and attitudinal barriers, we are on a path to better enhance engagement with both our employees and the communities in which we operate.”
Our DEIP includes cultural awareness training for our organisation, a commitment to spend $500,000 per annum with Disability Enterprises, and the design and implementation of a Disability Employment Strategy to increase recruitment, retention and professional development of people with disabilities.
BGIS has several long-standing affiliations with not-for-profit and community-based organisations that align with our business objectives, values and aspirations for social impact. Since 2018, we have proudly partnered with National Disability Services (NDS) – Australia’s peak industry body for non-government disability service organisations – to implement their BuyAbility initiative across our core business areas. We also partner with Jobsupport to provide employment opportunities to people living with significant intellectual disability.
