LEASING
Head, Transport for Victoria (HTV) owns numerous freehold properties across Victoria for future transport requirements. Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) is the administrative body appointed to manage HTV assets. Freehold properties that are not immediately required for transport purposes and have the potential to be leased or licensed are offered to the public on a commercial basis with market rent applicable. This process is managed by BGIS. DTP also has the ability to lease and licence arterial road reserve (the back of kerb area) but there are additional reviews and limitations on the use and lease/licence arrangements for this land as it is within the road management network. BGIS also manages this leasing process.
Lease enquiries and applications are reviewed by various teams within DTP to ensure the property is not required for transport purposes for the proposed lease term and to highlight any known restrictions or concerns for leasing. This process may take several months to complete. To avoid delays in finalising your lease enquiry or application review, please include as much relevant detail as possible as to your proposed use, alterations and preferred commercial terms.
Please be aware that DTP leases and licences contain early termination clauses where DTP may terminate on 6 months’ notice if the land is required in connection with its statutory obligations. This is required to ensure that there are no delays to DTP delivering its infrastructure projects or other statutory directives.
If you have a specific property or properties you wish to apply to lease, you can complete the application form to start the process.
Should you not be ready to complete an application yet but have a query, please complete the lease enquiry form with as much information as possible.
