BGIS is thrilled to announce that we have won the Sustainability category at the prestigious Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Awards 2021 Australia, for our involvement in the solar carport project at Primewest Broome Boulevard Shopping Centre in Western Australia.
In 2017, the sustainability experts at HFM, a BGIS company, were commissioned to build the 1.3MW solar carport project at Primewest Broome Boulevard Shopping Centre, poised to be the biggest of its type in regional Australia. Power generated from the 3600 solar panels on the 8000m2 carport shade structure will feed back a limited amount into the power grid, and is expected to supply around 45 per cent of the shopping centre’s electricity needs when it is completed in late 2021, equivalent to 1540 tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum.
Congratulations to our energy and sustainability team at HFM, led by Ian Knox, Managing Director. Thank you to our client for their vision and innovation in supporting this commercial solar project, one of the largest installations of its kind in the southern hemisphere. We look forward to many more successful commercial solar projects in the near future.
